Ole F. Ekern

Ole F. Ekern has more than 38 years of experience from the petroleum sector from 25 countries. He received an MSc within petroleum exploration in 1979 and an MBA within finance and strategy in 1990. 

The last 12 years Mr. Ekern has worked as a consultant with a primary focus on development cooperation with the goal to strengthen the capacity of governments to manage their petroleum resources.   He has worked extensively on petroleum policy processes, legal/fiscal frameworks and institutional models for the sector and prepared plans for the establishment of the petroleum upstream regulator in Tanzania and on Zanzibar.

He has been extensively involved in Uganda and acted as project manager for the development of strategic programs to enhance local content in the country.

In 2018 he completed a project financed by the African Development Bank for the harmonisation of petroleum sector frameworks within the EAC. This included a review and proposals for harmonisation of the legal framework for local content.  He is now conducting a similar harmonisation project for the ECOWAS Member States.
